@MITHackMedicine $100K Refugee Hackathon is our latest virtual event for attendees to join a free worldwide competition (in English) starting at Saturday March 16 and continuing weekly on Saturdays at 11am ET inside our private moderated Mighty Network spaces or on Zoom here:
We will accept new Contestants through April 30. Teams will self-organize virtually on the platform from around the world and IRL teams on university campuses. Contestants can pitch problems and recruit members with needed expertise. Importantly, competing teams do not need to form before May 11 and contestants can change or work on multiple teams during the competition.
An international panel of experts from Frontline Healthcare organizations, NGOs, and Venture Capital firms will award $100K in cash and in-kind prizes throughout the competition, with final awards celebration on Memorial Day May 27, 2024.
We are also recruiting a network of Campus Ambassadors on university campuses globally to help recruit teams at schools to assemble and build winning projects. Instructions inside!
Tracks and Prizes:
HackMed Golden Tickets will be awarded to medical + university students around the world who build something amazing and pitch passionately during the hackathon. Golden Tickets grant automatic admission to our annual Grand Hack on the MIT campus and are given a travel stipend to cover airfare and hotels.
For the first time in our 14 years, we are raising money for the Prizes directly from the public, due to our usual large pharma and med tech sponsors inability to fund an event on Refugees and Displaced Children... So we need your help to get the word out. HackMed is an all volunteer organization and 100% of your tax deductible donation will go towards prizes. Please share our GoFundMe effort at https://www.gofundme.com/f/global-refugee-health-hackathon-for-gaza-ukraine
This event is meant to be apolitical and focused on helping create tech solutions that do not exist and can be used as quickly as possible by NGOs, refugees, and orphans. Harassment and bad behavior will be moderated and blocked.
Request an invite to join! You will be asked for an email, but YOUR EMAILS + ANSWERS WILL REMAIN PRIVATE and your Linkedin is OPTIONAL.
